1.EDI定义

  • EDI(Electronic Data Interchange ,电子数据交换)：是一种利用计算机进行商务处理的方式。EDI是将贸易、运输、保险、银行和海关等行业的信息，用一种国际公认的标准格式，形成结构化的事务处理的报文数据格式，通过计算机通信网络，使各有关部门、公司与企业之间进行数据交换与处理，并完成以贸易为中心的全部业务过程。EDI包括买卖双方数据交换、企业内部数据交换等。
  • FCI 关于EDI的定义：Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is a method of exchanging information electronically between trading partners. In many companies it has replaced the manual preparation and posting of purchase orders, invoices, payment instructions and so on.

2.EDI的特点

2.1基于计算机设备的电子数据交互–It is an exchange of information between computer applications

–例子，当一个零售商（BUYER)向工厂(SELLER)采购家具是，工厂告知对方发票信息，那么将有以下流程：
1.卖家建立一个包含所有发票信息的平面文件(flat file)
2.flat file经由EDI 传输，所有信息都已被标准化（structured message），其他系统均可识别。
3.structured message在EDI 网络商经行传输
4.EDI网络识别出买家的电子地址信息（electronic address）并传输至买家
5.买家的EDI软件转化structured message成flat file，买家获知所有货品详情。

2.2所有交互数据已被标准化/格式化–The information it exchanges is structured

EDI可标准化的所有信息，包括invoice、order、delivery order、payment order、credit advice.

2.3具有开放的标准–it is based on open standards

EDI可面向各个领域，不受限于任何一个闭合的经济组织（closed commercial groups）和特定的供应商（specific vendors ）。例如供应商不仅仅把供货信息发送给买家，也可以同时发送给银行等机构。
